Abruzzo is located in eastern Italy on the same height as Rome. Here you will find the highest peaks of the Apennines up to 3,000 m altitude. Although it is not a big wine area in hectares, a lot of wine is produced here.
For a long time a lot of mass wine was produced. This is changing rapidly as a leading wine producers invest in this area. Because of changing weather conditions, sometimes harsh and cold winds from the northeast (the bora), or the hot wind from the southeast (called the scirocco), change the wine proceeds also correspondingly.
